This longstanding client specializes in security,
storage, application life cycle management,
data management, enterprise management, application development and portal and business intelligence.

Background: Prior to working with Cosmos, this
client would order large quantities of printed
software manuals including supporting collateral
material. However, in the ever-changing software
market, the books and materials would quickly
become obsolete resulting in a waste of time,
money, and outdated materials. Therefore, the
client was looking to implement a JIT
(Just In Time) manufacturing model to cut
down on obsolete inventory with the objective
of saving time and money.

Solution: After assessing the needs of this client, Cosmos developed a customized supply chain management application for managing
job tracking - including, shipping and distribution. In addition, we built them a manufacturing component - including, change orders and subsequent costing differentials.
The materials were printed on a need to print basis thus reducing inventory at a considerable time and cost savings. In addition, Cosmos developed a dual approach to the printing of materials combining offset printing and digital printing. A quantity certain to be used is produced using offset printing to achieve cost reduction, with digital printing being used to supplement the initial run if necessary.
Electronic files are prepared only once and can easily be channeled into either system.
